Vote for Loralie Cole for DCTA Treasurer! Loralie Cole has excellent experience to bring to this position.
As a Math/Science Facilitator, I have knowledge and skill with numbers.
As a member of two non-profit boards, I have experience with board governance procedures. And as a Gifted and Talented representative in the District for the past 7 years, I have maintained regular contact with students and teachers, maintaining first-hand exposure to situations facing teachers daily in the classroom.
I began my teaching career in Adams 50, teaching 6th-grade Science (and Lang Arts, and Music exploratory) for two years. I taught one year at a private school on the Zuni Pueblo Reservation south of Gallup, NM. After that, I have spent my last 14 years in DPS (Odyssey Charter, Mitchell Elementary, Harrington Elementary, Columbine Elementary, Trevista E-8).
I currently serve on the board of a non-profit providing free- and low-cost dental education and services (http://www.kidsoralprevention.org/) and as President of the Cole Neighborhood Association (yes, a total coincidence that I live in a neighborhood with my name!).
As a single mom, I know the struggle of balancing work and family. I also know the passion that I bring to my career, and doing anything other than teaching would be impossible. I constantly advocate for working conditions that respect a person’s right to have a 30-year career in teaching as well as a personal life outside of work.
I will attend Executive Board and AR meetings without fail. I exemplify the DELTA standards of Teaching Excellence, Shared Accountability, and Student Success. I will put my full effort into continuing what’s working in DCTA and changing what’s not. I have spoken at DPS School Board meetings on behalf of students and teachers, and it’s time to step up into this role as Treasurer.
I am committed to championing the value of teachers in society. A vote for Loralie Cole is a vote to invest in your future!
