Governance & Governing Documents
DCTA is a highly democratic, representative organization affiliated with the 37,000-member Colorado Education Association (CEA) and the 2.7 million-member National Education Association (NEA). Each school elects at least one teacher to represent the building at Representative Council, the policy making and legislative body of DCTA.
The Board of Directors is made up of full-time teachers who serve members across the district. The Board makes all corporate decisions for DCTA, which are then approved by the Representative Council.
The DCTA President is released full-time from teaching duty to be able to serve the membership and direct the organization.
DCTA policies and procedures are governed through adherence to the Standing Rules and By-Laws.
The larger Denver UniServ Unit (DUU), consists of DCTA, DCTA-Retired, and the Denver Association of Educational Office Personnel (DAEOP). DUU employs the office personnel (Executive Director, UniServ Directors, and Associate Staff) who assist members of all three organizations
